I would first like to thank my family for putting up with me and my life long obsession - Volleyball.

I was born in Miami, Florida and grew up in southwest Virginia (Bedford). I grew up an avid fan of all sports while growing up in Southwest Virginia, playing tennis and basketball in High School and Rugby in College.

In 1987, after graduating from Radford University, I moved to Atlanta. My first introduction to volleyball was 2’s sand. I played in my first tournament 6 weeks later and I instantly fell in love with the sport and never looked back. I was hooked on Volleyball from that point going forward.

I played right side in Open 2 Man Sand, and right side in Men’s Indoor A. Our Men’s A team finished in the top three in the Southern Region 3 years in a row, and we won the Southern Region Championship in 1993 and represented the region at the US Open Volleyball Championships in Memphis, Tennessee finishing in the Silver Bracket. (Oh how we wanted Gold).

I was "thrown" into officiating by a pirate named Steve Kenyon. The very first play I missed a back row attack, (what’s a back row attack by the way?) survived the ordeal and ultimately received my USA National in 1996 and PAVO National in 2001, and as the result of excellent mentoring (from way too many to mention) have been able to work a couple of NCAA 1st round matches.

I coached with the very first club in Atlanta, and grew to love coaching more than playing. I also learned that being a former player does not instantly make you a good coach, and have tried to hone this craft ever since. I have coached 18 Power, 16 Club, and 12 Power. The 12’s power team was also "Co-Coached" by John Grissom and included my daughter Bridgette, who played at Bryan College. John and I had a blast coaching this team and were able to make the Semis of the Southern Regional Championships in 2006. I most recently coach the Cobb Atlanta 14-1's.

My philosophy as a coach is the players need to have FUN and learn best from being allowed to make multiple contacts. I endorse a games approach and visual modeling. I uphold our club Motto that coaches coach, players play, and parents CHEER (including distant relatives). :)
