Homework assignment

Here is your homework assignment due next practice (but use it during this weekend tournament!)

After you watch every video criticize yourself on what you are doing correctly and what you are not doing. When you are watching remember the basics: if you are passing, are you moving to get under the ball? HOw is my platform? am I swinging my arms? If you are attacking the ball, HOw is my footwork, what foot am I jumping off? Am I unbalnaced once I jump off? am I using my arms to jump and swing? Am I following through. As you do this, please keep in mind the keywords we tell you at practice. We know that when we tell you you might think:' I was doing it correctly', but once you see the videos you will see why we tell you each keyword.

There is a comment section under every video, please write what you see in that section BE HONEST!

What a great weekend of improvements!

Ladies, our serve recieve was a big talking point during gulfshores. We have been working hard on it and this weekend showed that yu have been working hard getting around the ball, getting low and holding your platforms.

OUr serve receive errors went down about 60%!! That is INCREDIBLE!! this allows for an offense that can have options!! also it just wasn't about just not shanking a ball, but it was accuracy! Keep working hard!

Offense, although we had some great plays, we must continue finishing. We talked a lot about not snapping and foolowing through. We will work a lot in this area during the next few practices before Peachtree!

Remember to check the stats for Thursdays practice!!!

Getting pumped for Huntsville

What a great couple of weeks of practices! We have been working hard to imrpove our weaknesses and I believe they will become our strengths!

“It's not the will to win, but the will to prepare to win that makes the difference."

We practice like we play. Lets show everyone that we want to be in the top at Huntsville and we are working hard to get there. Our serve receive will be a force to rekon with, and don't let any teams send us a free ball because they will not be ready for our quick offense that we have been working on!

Keep up the good work and get ready to sweat!

Parents thank you for all of the support!! We are excited to see you all again in Huntsville :)

BRONZE WINNERS!!

GULF SHORES

Hello Blue Lightning!

Well, it is almost time for Gulf Shores!! We have one practice left before we head to the beach. Thursday we will continue reviewing our serve/serve receives and will work on blocking and hitting! We have improved greatly with our serving this past two practices and we need to continue the great work! Remember we need to be more aggressive on the net and in the back row. Our goal this tournament is to not let one ball touch the ground, and serving in both days!

This weekend make sure you bring your TWO jerseys!!!

Donate your jeans this week!

This season's service project is to donate used jeans to the Teens for Jeans drive by Aeropostale. The jeans will then be donated to homeless teens. Please bring your jeans to practice and give them to your coach.  Then we will get the jeans turned in to Aeropostale.

The last day to bring them to your coach is February 11th!  So, please get them in ASAP this week.

We have about 50 pairs now, and I'm positive we can double it!

See you on Thursday and be ready to work!

Improving every day!

I know our win loss record did not reflect our playing from this weekend, but coach Danielle and I were able to see a lot of great things!!

During the next few practices we will continue to work on our serve receive to assure that the girls can reach the 90% accuracy. We will also work very hard on serving in and zone serving. Blocking and Hitting also need improvement and we will dedicate enough time to these areas to create better offense and defense. Overall we are working better as a team, but it is the little things that will make the biggest difference to come out of top in our next tournament!

Keep working hard and we will see you at practice on Thursday!

WOO HOO

Chattanooga Tournament Results are in,

and................

we tied for 5th place!

Way to go girls! This was a very important tournament due to the fact that it is the first and it gives us a chance to see what areas need improvement!

Our serving is good, but we still need to work on consitency and zone serving. We will be reviewing zones at practice on Wednesday.

Free ball passing is looking a lot better after Sunday practice. Remember a great pass on a free ball allows us to create a better offense.

Hitting and Blocking need some improvement, we will continue working on following through, snapping and placing our hits better. Great job Saturday!

Overall we had  a great  tournament, good communication, great team atmosphere, and sportmanship!
